Dreamin' summer
Holy Musical Batman!

I’ve been forgetting to post!

Nada

No dreams today? No dreams today. Ugh.

Hungercraft

So there is this this minecraft hunger games competition with 32 people called hungercraft. I’ve signed up twice, but there always about 500 people to sign up and I haven’t gotten in. I dreamed that both my friend John and I got in the competition.

Well, kinda. When it began, John had to leave for some reason, so I had two laptops with the hungercraft games running. Well, the games soon started and I ran to the cornucopia, receiving some bread and a wooden sword (which isn’t too great a weapon, but good early game). The map was some sort of snowy grid thing, with castles at the center of each square. I killed someone with my sword right off the bat, and they had a gold helmet and a golden sword! Now we’re talking.

Somehow, John had survived the initial slaughter AFK, and I felt obligated to hide him somewhere. I took control of him, and was hiding him as I realized that I probably should look back at my main character’s screen. I did, and someone was chasing me!

I ran for a bit before realizing that their best weapon was a golden pickaxe when mine was a golden sword. I was also full and hadn’t eaten my bread yet. So my plan was so run for a bit and then turn around and kill them. But when I decided to turn around, I had fallen into a one meter hole, and it trapped me and made me miss him. He was wearing a gold helmet (and I realized that I had never put mine on), but I was still confident that I would win the battle. But then, he swung at me and I died in one hit, lightning striking the spot to mark his kill.

John was still somehow alive, but he was starving, so I took control of him and was quickly defeated within seconds.

Beach Fire

I was swimming at the beach when someone there (there were like 4 people) discovered how to make big explosions. First, you had to throw a certain kind of stick somewhere (we were testing it on these trees) and then you had to throw a cluster of burning sticks at it faster. The cluster of burning sticks would hit the first stick and BOOM! An entire cluster of trees would collapse. We began testing with different amounts of each stick to see what the best combination was for big explosions. Unfortunately, as I began to test one type, a strong wind came. I hoped to take advantage of the wind to make my sticks hit harder, but it changed.

My first batch of sticks blew off to the left, and the burning sticks exploded fire all over the tree I aimed at like a molotov cocktail. At first the fire looked like it would die, but it became apparent to everyone there that it was going to spread. So we ran.

On the run, I found several peoples’ cell phones and wallets, since we had been swimming. I gathered all of these as quickly as possible, but I never found my own cell phone. We ran out to the beach to tell the swimmers what was going on, and I could see the forest fire had broken through the barrier of trees just before the beach, about a half mile down. We got our stuff and ran up the beach, desperate to cross the long, thin island before the fire cut us off.

Against all odds, we made it across the island, and the only way to get back to the mainland was to cross between two windows on two twin condos, across the strait from each other. The windows were somehow only a foot apart.

Everyone rushed through as the outside scene changed. The darkness brought on by smoke turned into a rainstorm, and the cracking of burning wood below turned into gunfire. We were high above some sort of intense battle. I was the last person to go through the gap between buildings, so I began handing over the cell phones and wallets to make myself fit better. But, as I handed people the items, someone’s hand got shot! Everyone was now scared to hold out their hands for the items (which were super important to get across) but some brave ones still did.

Next up was me; I took off my jacket to make myself thinner, and jumped through the windows, only getting stuck outside for a second, but all the gun-mens’ shots missed.

Third time charm? Nope, second time.

I couldn’t even remember my dreams this morning, and I’m still in bed. I spent at least 15 minutes trying, so maybe I tried too hard?

Anyway, I almost LD’d last night. I know because my thoughts kept turning to dreams as I was falling asleep, and I became aware of it multiple times. The problem was that if I ever became aware enough to even attempt to test it, the dream immediately collapsed and I became aware of myself in bed. One of these times was a false awakening (first time it ever happened to me) but I noticed less than a second into it, it collapsed, and I ended up testing positive for reality in my real bed.

Usually I can recall dreams better than this, maybe I didn’t even dream this morning.

EDIT: Nevermind! I remember the dream, only after seeing a gif of a manta ray on reddit! This small pond, in a golf course near my house, had received enough rainwater to become a lake and the whole golf course was filled. The lake had a name, but I can’t remember it. My family and I were so excited about it we went to take a road trip over there, and there were some other kids in the car. These kids began filling this bucket with sand and stuff with the (evil) intention of dumping it in the lake. Somehow, before we got there, some of it ended up in my mouth. Apparently it was poisonous, and it also tasted salty, so we stopped the car and I had to spit it out.

Next scene: we’re taking a tour of the lake. The tour guide is telling us how 2 rivers converge on the spot and each brings its own species of snakes. We waded through the water after him, and he stopped multiple times to show us a snake, sea cucumber, or poisonous caterpillars (in the water for some reason). I remember him informing us that one snake was actually descended from an earthworm. There seemed to be a snake at least every 20 feet in this place, which was not more of a river than a lake.

Then, I’m alone on the downstream shore of this small island in the river. I’m not sure what I was doing there, but I was scared of the snakes in the water and I wanted to wade across to get home. I was surprised at how few snakes I saw, until one of the caterpillar things drifted to me - not unlike a jellyfish - and wrapped itself around my finger. It had a strange anatomy; there was a central body with little spike things coming out around both edges, making the creature belt shaped, about the size of a bacon slice. These spike things were poisonous, and I struggled to get it off of my hand. I ran through the water to the car, to find my hand was swollen. The guide looked at and said that it could either have been a water moccasin-type caterpillar or a copperhead-type, and we found out that it was the copperhead type, the least dangerous. But my hand still hurt.

The purpose of this blog

I’m not going to blog about my life here. Not my gamedev adventures either, although lots of people seem to enjoy that. I’m going to use this tumblr account to write down my dreams. Sleepy dreams, not the Martin Luther King kind. I want to become an expert at becoming lucid, and the first step is to have a good dream recall, and that takes practice. Putting my dreams down into written form will help me to remember the details and maybe reading them will let me get to know my subconscious better.

I don’t care if anyone reads this, but if you do, make some sort of interpretation or something. It’s cool to have an outsider’s opinion on what your subconscious is telling you.

I can’t remember what I dreamed about last night. It’s already the evening, so I give up. But I’ll write something EVERY DAY this summer.
